National Grid releases energy saving tips

National Grid announced on Thursday that it is launching radio advertisements as part of its energy saving educational campaign.

The advertisements promote specific, energy-efficiency measures customers can implement to reduce energy consumption and lower bills

  • Replace five lights with ENERGY STAR light bulbs or fixtures
  • Turn off lights, appliance, TVs, stereos, computers when not in use
  • Unplug electric space heater, hot tub, chargers, laptops, and anything with remote control or instant on features
  • Wash clothes in cold water
  • Repair leaky faucets
  • Clean dryer filter and clean and straighten exhaust hose vent outside

“While we can’t control what’s happening in the world energy markets, we can, and will, do everything possible to make sure our customers have all the information necessary to help them reduce their usage and manage their costs,” said Cheryl LaFleur, president and CEO of National Grid’s New England distribution companies.

The advertisements began on Oct. 17 and will run through Nov. 15. The campaign included three different 60-second radio spots that will air on 12 stations in Massachusetts and six in Rhode Island.
