Woonsocket Transit Center ribbon cutting held

The Rhode Island Transit Authority celebrated the opening of the Woonsocket Transit Center with a ribbon cutting yesterday.

The new passenger terminal, located in the city’s historic depot, opened
to the public on April 12.

RIPTA officials, Woonsocket Mayor Susan D. Menard and
representatives from the John H. Chafee Blackstone River Valley National
Heritage Corridor Commission were on hand for the ceremony.

The RI Department of Transportation, with funding from the Federal
Transportation and Federal Highway Administrations, spearheaded the
renovation of the Woonsocket Depot and invited RIPTA to occupy a portion of
the building for the purpose of opening a transit center.
