The Rhode Island Manufacturers Extension Service Inc. is administering an initiative to expand access to the supply chains of the U.S. Department of Defense, its prime contractors and original equipment managers.
The initiative, which is run by RIMES and the New England Manufacturing Consortium, will be anchored by a database that will inventory the technical capabilities and available capacity of all manufactures in the state and throughout New England.

RIMES is collaborating with manufacturing extension programs in the other five New England states and plans to offer the service at a reduced rate. The New England Manufacturing Consortium is being funded through $11.6 million provided under 2004 national budget.
