WASHINGTON, D.C. – Jeffrey Butland, former Maine state senator, has been appointed Region 1 administrator by the U.S. Small Business Administration to oversee its programs and services in Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Maine Vermont and New Hampshire. Butland was an operational planner for L.L. Bean at its Freeport, Maine, headquarters since 1984. Prior to that he was a self-employed contractor. He has served in the Maine House and Senate since 1987. He is a graduate of Bates College in Maine and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1982 to 1976. He is married and has four children.
