The latest surveys from the State Energy Office and AAA Southern New England both report the average price for a gallon of gasoline has dropped 5 cents.
According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of unleaded, regular self-serve gasoline is $1.50 in Rhode Island, down from $1.55 a week ago. The State Energy Office’s survey found the average price to be $1.54, down from $1.59 a week ago.

AAA’s survey found the average price of self-serve midgrade gasoline to be $1.61; with premium costing$1.70; and diesel costing $1.56. For full-serve gasoline, the auto club reported $1.58 for regular; $1.70 for midgrade; $1.80 for premium; and $1.62 for diesel.
The Energy Office found the average price of self-serve midgrade gasoline to be $1.66, with premium costing $1.74. For full-serve gasoline, regular averaged $1.69; midgrade, $1.78; and premium, $1.87.
The office found the average price of diesel fuel to be $1.61.
