Arnold Lumber buys Coutu lumber

WEST KINGSTON — Arnold Lumber Co. has purchased C.J. Coutu Lumber Co. of West
Warwick, bringing two old line lumber companies together. Terms were no disclosed.
The Providence Journal reported that Coutu would close its West Warwick yard and
its half-dozen employees there would shift to Arnold’s yards. Arnold employs about
150 at its West Kingston and Wakefield yards. Carl Coutu, resident of Coutu Lumber,
will head Arnold’s commercial division.
