Aerovox withdraws from Nasdaq

NEW BEDFORD, MASS. — Aerovox Inc., a manufacturer of film, paper and aluminum electrolytic capacitors, has stopped trading its common stock on the Nasdaq National Market.

According to a company statement, Aerovox voluntarily withdrew from the market on July 5. Trading of its securities had been halted since June 7, after Aerovox officials announced they were filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Aerovox’s stock last traded at 54 cents on June 7. It had traded as high as $4.50 and as low as 25 cents during the 52-week period.

In April, the company posted first quarter earnings of $128,000 — or 2 cents per diluted share — compared to earnings of $448,000 — or 7 cents per diluted share — for the year-ago period. The company posted a loss of $7.2 million, or $1.33 per share, in 2000.
