Tax headaches

The National Federation of Independent Business recently listed its top 10
list of small business tax headaches. We asked our poll participants to put
NFIB’s list of headaches in whatever order of severity they perceived them.
We tabulated the totals and what follows is our participants’ evaluation of
the “biggest headaches” to the least painful.

  2. Overall tax burden
  3. Death tax
  4. The total cost of compliance
  5. Complex tax code
  6. Federal Unemployment Tax (FUTA)
  7. Incomplete deductibility of health care
  8. Alternative minimum tax (AMT)
  9. Low section 179 expensing limits
  10. Accrual method of accounting
