Lecture series to feature yachting at its limits

The radical extremes of the sport of yachting will be featured in this year’s spring lecture series at the International Yacht Restoration School.

Presenters will take audiences to geographically remote cruising destinations, give them a look at the excessive luxury of mega yachts, demonstrate the passionate effort required to race around the world alone and depict fanatical racing aboard the 110-foot catamaran “Team Adventure.”

Brian Hancock, and other members of Team Adventure, present a multimedia collection from “The Race, the Whitbread, and the Around Alone” at IYRS on Tuesday, April 24. The event ” was designed to be the “ultimate” non-stop around-the-world competition, raced on the fastest, biggest, most radical boats that entrants could imagine and afford. Six of the world’s fastest yachts started the inaugural event at Barcelona, Spain on New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, 2000. The fleet is expected to finish by the end of April.
