PROVIDENCE — The J. Williard and Alice S. Marriot Foundation has donated $2 million to Johnson & Wales University to endow scholarships for the school’s hospitality management program. According to the university, the gift is the largest donation ever given by the foundation to a hospitality-related educational program.
In addition to the gift, the university said it plans to partner with Marriot International to establish the Marriot Career Track, a career development-based initiative that will work with Johnson & Wales’ Cooperative Placement and Summer Work Experience programs. Through the programs, students are paid and receive academic credit by while working in a corporate environment that best matches their course of study and career aspirations, the university said.
