Journal Register Company to acquire 13 publications

TRENTON, N.J. — The Journal Register Company, which owns 24 daily newspapers and 151 non-daily newspapers, including the Woonsocket Call, Pawtucket Times, Kent County Daily Times, Narragansett Times, Standard Times, East Greenwich Pendulum, Chariho Times and Coventry Courier, has agreed to acquire the Pennsylvania and New Jersey regions of Elkton, Md.-based Chesapeake Publishing Corporation’s Mid-Atlantic Division.

The terms of the agreement were not disclosed. According to the Journal Register, the 13 newly acquired publications have a total non-daily distribution of 88,000.

The Journal Register’s acquisitions include 10 weekly publications with main offices in Kennett Square, Quarryville and Hershey, Pa; and three weekly publications with main offices in Medford, N.J.
