CRANSTON, R.I. — The creation of 16 area Krispy Kreme Doughnut shops could result in 1,000 new jobs over the next five years, according to a Jan Companies spokesperson.
Cranston-based Jan Companies, which runs 65 Burger King franchises throughout Rhode Island, has formed New England Dough, a venture that aims to open the doughnut shops in Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts. The venture marks the entry of Krispy Kreme, based in Winston-Salem, N.C., into the New England market.
