DEM issues temporary sewage disposal system rule

PROVIDENCE — The Department of Environmental Management (DEM) has issued a temporary amendment to individual sewage disposal system (ISDS) regulations. Those regulations require a soil evaluation for all new septic system sites after January 31. The amendment waives that requirement for 120 days for all sites with field data accepted by DEM as of that date.

According to DEM’s web site, after January 31, as already specified in regulations, soil evaluations must be done on new sites where field data has not already been accepted by the department.
