AAA: Rhode Island gasoline prices lowest since May 2000

Gasoline prices in Rhode Island have fallen four cents per gallon in the last two weeks, reaching their lowest level since last May, according to AAA Southern New England.

AAA’s January 2 survey of gasoline prices in the state found the average price of self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline to be $1.54 per gallon — four cents less than the week before Christmas. Last May 22, the average price was $1.55 per gallon.

Average prices per gallon of self-serve gasoline in Rhode Island are $1.54 for regular unleaded; $1.64 for midgrade unleaded; $1.71 for premium unleaded; and $1.73 for diesel. Corresponding average prices for full-serve gasoline are $1.65, $1.74, $1.83 and $1.84, respectively.
