Cahners buys eLogic for $79 million

NEWTON – Cahners Business Information has agreed to buy eLogic Corp. of Los Angeles, Calif., for $79 million to obtain software that organizes publications’ Wed sites. Cahners, which is owned by Reed Elsevier PLC, publishers Variety, Publishers Weekly and other trade publications. Cahners said it planned not only to use eLogic’s software to help it manage its publications, but also plans to license it to other companies. Reed Elsevier is owned by Reed International PLC of London, England, and Elsevier NV of Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
