Lori Dufficy
Lori Dufficy has been appointed vice president and branch manager of the Charlestown office of The Washington Trust Company. In addition to her branch manager duties, she will be responsible for small business lending and the development of small business relationships in Southeastern Rhode Island. Dufficy received her degree in business administration from the Community College of Rhode Island and is currently enrolled in the University of Rhode Island’s College of Continuing Education. She is a member of the Charlestown Chamber of Commerce and South Kingstown Chamber of Commerce. She is also a coach for the South County Youth Soccer Association and the South Kingstown Girl’s Little League.

Michael J. Kerr
Michael J. Kerr has been appointed senior vice president of business lending for Bank Rhode Island. He will head a lending team within the Bank’s business lending unit with responsibility for the management and development of a commercial loan portfolio. He will also oversee a portfolio team of administration and analysis personnel. Kerr joins the Bank from Fleet Bank, where he served as a vice president in the small business banking unit. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Rhode Island. He is also a member of the Woonsocket Advisory Committee and Main Street 2000 Micro Loan Committee.

Anthony A. Norato, Jr. has been name field examiner for Bourget & Associates, Inc. Prior to joining the Woonsocket-based Bourget, he was a financial analyst with Fleet Boston in the Providence office. He also served as an accounting manager with Fleet Mortgage Group in Columbia, SC and as assistant manager of Fleet Financial Group in Providence. A graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a bachelor of science degree in finance, Norato is a North Providence resident.

David Parent, CLU, president of David Parent Chartered Financial Consultants of East Greenwich, was appointed the Southeastern New England national representative for the Society of Financial Service Professionals. A 27-year member of the Rhode Island and National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, Parent is a Warwick resident. He is also a past president of the 200-member Rhode Island Chapter of Financial Service Professionals.

James Petrone
James Petrone has been appointed general manager of the new Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites in Warwick. He has been employed by Carpionato Properties, the owner of the hotel, for the last twelve years at the company’s Crowne Plaza Hotel, also in Warwick. He has held managerial positions in convention services, engineering, purchasing, housekeeping and front office. Petrone is a native of West Warwick, and resides in Cranston.

Debra M. Richardson has joined Aeico Insurance as an account executive. Her responsibilities include developing new personal insurance accounts as well as servicing existing accounts. She was formerly an account manager for Starkweather & Shepley, Inc., and has over 20 years of experience in customer service.

Robert G. Jarvis
Robert G. Jarvis of Narragansett has been named shipyard vice president and general manager of the Southeastern New England Shipbuilding Corporation in Quonset Point. He oversees the daily operations of SENESCO, a shipbuilding company specializing in the construction of barges, tug boats, ferries and other shallow-draft boats. A native of Scotland, he has over 30 years of experience in the industry, most recently serving as vice president of new construction for Service Marine, Inc., where he supervised over 800 people. Jarvis has an HNC in naval architecture and a DMS in business management from Strathclyde University in Glasgow, Scotland.

Arthur D. Martone
Arthur D. Martone of Cranston was recently named sports editor of the Providence Journal. He will supervise a department of 16 reporters and columnists, nine editors and six assistants. He will be responsible for the content of the sports section seven days a week and for the content of the sports special sections. Martone previously was assistant sports editor, sports news editor, assistant to the sports editor and a sports writer. He joined the Providence Journal Company in 1974 as a part-time clerk. From 1994 to 1998 he was the producer for the projo.com Web site. In 1998, Boston Magazine named him best sports columnist in Boston for his Internet baseball column, “Off the Wall”. His journalism career began at the Cranston Herald in 1970.

Michele Sczerbinski has been appointed to head Lasertone Corporation’s newly opened Rhode Island regional office. Born and raised in Cranston, she has 10 years of sales, marketing and fundraising experience. After graduating from Boston University, she worked in sales for the seafood industry, and handled public relations and fundraising for the Rhode Island Chapter of the American Red Cross from 1993 to 1995. Sczerbinski held posts in the alumni and development office of BU and the Graduate School of Business of the University of Chicago before coming to Lasertone. She was recently asked to serve on the Alumni Board of the Wheeler School.
