Landmark Medical Center has announced plans to team up with Boston’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center to establish a regional cardiac care center at the Woonsocket Unit for the treatment of heart disease. The proposed program will provide a full range of cardiac diagnostic and treatment services, including heart surgery and angioplasty, to patients in Northern Rhode Island and neighboring Massachusetts. Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is a world-class healthcare facility, renowned for its leading-edge cardiac service.
In January, Landmark Medical Center submitted a Certificate of Need application to the Rhode Island Department of Health seeking to expand its cardiac services to include diagnostic cardiac catheterization, interventional cardiac catheterizaton, and open heart surgery. The health department must first review and approve the proposal. Typically, the review period lasts 90 to 120 days.
