David A. Platt, CPA, JD has been admitted to the partnership of Rooney, Plotkin & Willey, LLP. A graduate of the Citadel and Roger Williams School of Law, Platt was previously with Cook-son America and Ernst & Young, LLP. He will be co-director of audit and accounting, specializing in technical accounting issues in various industry groups and co-director of the firm’s litigation support services. He is a member of the Rhode Island Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Robert F. Tasca, Sr.
Robert F. Tasca, Sr., chairman of Tasca Ford Sales, Inc., was named a recipient of the 2000 TIME Mag-azine Quality De-aler Award. He and 64 other winners nationwide were honored at the opening of this year’s NADA convention. Sponsored by TIME in association with Goodyear, the TMQDA program recognizes new car dealers for performance in their dealerships and community service. A Providence native, Tasca was the youngest Ford dealer in 1953. Today, three of his sons and four of his grandchildren are in the automobile business.
Linda Beith

Linda Beith has been named faculty technology support coordinator in the computer resources department at the Community College of Rhode Island. She will be responsible for coordinating the planning, imp-lementation and support of instructional technology programs for faculty. Her duties will include individual consultation and group meetings with faculty to implement high-tech solutions. Previously she was assistant director of user support at Bridgewater State College.

Tom Clough has joined Warwick-based Health Business Partners as managing director. Clough comes to HBP from Gemini Consulting where he was a managing consultant to clients in the pharmaceuticals, computer, chemicals, energy and telecommunications industries. Much of his experience is in post-acquisition integration, strategy development and executive alignment. Clough received a bachelor’s degree in food engineering as well as a bachelor’s in chemical engineering from the University of Massachusetts, both with honors. He also has a master’s in business administration from Harvard Business School.

Matt Schonberg has been hired as a senior telecommunications/telephony consultant for Sansiveri, Kimball & McNamee, LLP. He assists clients in telecommunications carrier contract negotiations, phone system and wide area network design and procurement, telecom and data invoice auditing, inside wiring for voice and data project management. Elizabeth Ventresca has been named regional director of marketing of Epoch Senior Living. She will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of marketing for the assisted living communities in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Prior to joining Epoch, Ventresca held the post of New England regional marketing director for Atria, a senior living company based in Kentucky. A resident of North Providence, she is currently seeking her master’s degree in organization and management from Johnson & Wales University.

John Torvi has joined the Providence agency of MassMutual. Formerly associated with Farm Family Insurance Company, Torvi is a board member of the North Smith-field Substance Abuse Prevention Task Force. The North Smithfield resident is also associated with the town’s Youth Center.

Peter J. Roberti has joined Reed & Barton Corporation as vice president of finance. He was most recently a group director within Ernst & Young’s internal audit services practice. He was the New England assessment leader of all internal audit services provided to retail, distribution and manufacturing companies. A graduate of Babson College with a bachelor’s in accounting, Roberti resides in North Kingstown with his wife and three children.

Associates Jerry Elmer and Joseph M. Fernandez have become partners in the firm of Goldenberg & Muri LLP. Elmer, a graduate of Rhode Island College and Harvard Law School, will continue his practice in the area of business litigation. Prior to joining Goldenberg & Muri in 1997, Elmer was associated with the Providence firm of Tillinghast Licht & Semonoff Ltd. He is also general counsel of the Fellowship of Reconciliation, a national interdenominational organization promoting civil rights and nonviolent conflict resolution. Fernandez, a graduate of Brown University and Harvard Law School, will also continue his practice in the area of business litigation. Prior to joining Goldenberg & Muri in 1998, Fernandez practiced in New York City, first with Cahill Gordon & Reindel, then with Solomon, Zauderer, Ellenhorn, Frischer & Sharp. He is a member of Leadership Rhode Island’s Upsilon Class of 2000 and a member of the Brown Corporation’s Committee on Minority Affairs.

Brigida M. Johnson
Brigida M. Johnson has been named a promotion specialist in The Providence Journal Company’s promotion department. She will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing all aspects of promotional projects and tactics supporting the newspaper’s advertising and circulation sales strategies and initiatives. Johnson, a Cranston resident, had been promotion coordinator. Prior to that she worked for four years as a community affairs coordinator, and for three years as a circulation sales assistant.

Yvonne Seggerman has been hired as director of development for Waterfire. A native of Los Angeles, she is currently living in Cumberland. Her responsibilities will include the design and execution of an annual campaign, including corporate sponsorship, foundation and government support. Seggerman will also be designing a donor recognition program and a community gifts program. A cum laude graduate of Sarah Lawrence College in New York, she has performed with the American Dance Machine and the Acme Dance Company as a dancer and choreographer. She has also worked as direct sales manager and group sales manager for the Trinity Repertory Company.
