Dr. Frank B. Satterthwaite, Jr.
Dr. Frank B. Satterthwaite, Jr. has been promoted to director of the Graduate Center for Business at the Alan Shawn Feinstein Graduate School at Johnson & Wales University. Satterthwaite is a seven year member of the graduate school faculty. He was selected as Teacher of the Year in 1997 and teaches courses in organizational behavior, strategic management, the manager as coach and career self-management. His autobiography, The Three-Wall Nick and Other Angles, was highly acclaimed by The New Yorker magazine.

Jeffrey J. Brown, a self-employed Certified Financial Planner who offers securities through Tower Square Securities, Inc., has been authorized by the CFP Board to use the CFP certification mark in accordance with CFP Board certification and license renewal requirements. A graduate of Bryant College, Brown also holds the Chartered Financial Consultant professional designation from the American College in Bryn Mawr, Penn.

Susan Oldrid
Susan Benetti Oldrid, CFRE, has been named director of development at Saint Anne’s Hospital in Fall River, Mass. She will oversee all fund-raising and related community affairs, including management of the hospital’s $5 million capital campaign launched earlier this year. Under Oldrid’s direction, the campaign has raised $1.6 million to date. Most recently director of development and public relations for the Southeastern Massachusetts region of the American Red Cross, she brings more than 14 years of fundraising and community affairs experience to her new role. Oldrid is a graduate of Bridgewater State College and lives in Somerset, Mass.
Barnet Fain
Barnet Fain is the new chairman of the Lifespan board of directors. He succeeds the Hon. Bruce M. Selya, becoming second chairman of the Lifespan board. Fain has been vice chairman of Lifespan’s board since Rhode Island Hospital and the Miriam Hospital founded the Providence-based health care system in 1994. Before that he was president of Highland Distributors, Inc., a family-owned carpet and floor covering business with retail stores throughout New England. A Colby College graduate, he has served on the board of trustees of the Rhode Island School of Design for 30 years, and was the board’s chairman from 1994 to 1996.

Ben Aceto
Ben Aceto has been named president and chief operating officer of Fort U.S.A., a manufacturer of fine gifts and collectibles since 1945. Aceto joined Fort U.S.A. in December of 1992 and prior to his current appointment was executive vice president.
Tom O’Rourke
Tom O’Rourke has been promoted to director of logistics and purchasing for Dryvit Systems, Inc. He will now be responsible for corporate purchasing, working on national supplier contracts and coordinating all plant purchases. A graduate from Providence College with a degree in business management, he has been in the transportation industry for 35 years. He received a Bronze Star for service in the Vietnam War with the U.S. Army Infantry and Transportation Corps from 1962 to 1968. He and his wife Hazel live in North Kingstown.

Nancee Meeker
Nancee Meeker has joined Body-Sense Massage in Providence. Meeker earned her National Certification for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork and is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association, and attended the Muscular Therapy Institute in Cambridge, Mass. Prior to working as a massage therapist, Meeker received national renown for her pottery. Her work is in the collections of the Smithsonian Institution and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

Marilyn Almond
Marilyn Almond, wife of Gov. Lincoln Almond of Rhode Island’s, has been named honorary chairperson of the Rhode Island Chapter of the March of Dimes Folic Acid Council. The council is composed of 20 leading health professionals, agency administrators and consumers who share the March of Dimes mission of preventing birth defects. The council to which Almond belongs will encourage women to take folic acid to reduce the risk of birth defects.
Lawrence Singband
Lawrence Singband has been elected to the board of directors of Literacy Volunteers of America-Rhode Island, Inc. He will serve on the Fund Development Committee. A systems manager with the legal department of Fleet Financial Group in Providence, Singband is a former member of the U.S. Coast Guard. He earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Connecticut and a master’s from the University of Rhode Island.

Bobbi Frank
Bobbi Frank has joined HD Randall, Realtors/Better Homes and Gardens as a sales associate. A North King-stown resident, she has become an active member of the Animal Protection League as well as Habitat for Humanity of South County. She is the current president of the League of Women’s Voters of Rhode Island and chair of Habitat’s Bowl-a-Thon. Frank works out of HD Randall’s Wickford office.
