AAA: R.I. gas prices dip 7 cents

Rhode Island gasoline prices have fallen 7 cents, in their fourth straight week of declines, according to AAA Southern New England.

AAA’s Jan. 22 survey of gas prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, unleaded regular averaging $2.289 per gallon, down 7 cents from last week and 13 cents since the beginning of the year. One year ago, the average price was $2.399.

The range in prices for self-serve regular in the latest survey was 35 cents, from a low of $2.149 to a high of $2.499, the nonprofit auto club reported. AAA reported similar ranges for other grades of fuel, and advised motorists to shop around for the best prices.

Average self-serve prices for other grades of fuel this week were $2.429 per gallon for midgrade unleaded; $2.539 for premium unleaded; and $2.699 for diesel.
