CAMBRIDGE – Allaire Corp., a software developer for the Web, has agreed to acquire Live Software, Inc., of Cupertino, Calif., for $24.2 million in stock. The acquisition will permit users of the software obtained from Live to have access to the latest Java software functions. An Allaire spokesperson said Live Software operations would be moved to Cambridge. It now employs 10 people in California and has about 80,000 users worldwide. Among Allaire’s customers are the Boeing Co. and Autobytel.com.

BURLINGTON – Teleglobe Communications Corp., the third largest international cable network, is opening an office here that is expected to create up to 40 jobs this year. In the fall, a company spokesperson said, an Internet switch serving Greater Boston will be installed.
