David Wax has joined the Rhode Island Philharmonic as executive director. He previously served as executive director of the Houston Symphony Orchestra in Texas since 1987 and has held senior management positions with the Pittsburgh Symphony, the Sacramento Symphony, the Minnesota Orchestra and the North Carolina Symphony. Wax has served on a number of non-profit boards, including the board of the Houston Theater District Association. He also served on the board of directors of the American Symphony Orchestra League and chairman of the Group I managers committee, a group that represents the interests and views of the 20 largest symphony orchestras in North America. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and earned a Master of Science and Ph.D. from Harvard University.
