A.T. Cross announced a strategic agreement with FinePoint Innovations Inc., a manufacturer of pen-based computing systems with patents in the electronic pen domain. As part of the agreement, Cross will obtain exclusive right to use patented FPI technology in digital pen applications, according to a company press release. Specifically, as part of the agreement FPI has with Seiko Instruments, Cross will be able to provide the digital pens used in the Seiko SmartPad.
“The Fine Point agreement is a profitable and exciting opportunity to expand our leadership as an innovator in the pen computing products arena,” said Dave Whalen, president and CEO of Cross. “The FPI strategic relationship will allow us to develop exciting new products and applications for consumers and businesses, such as a secure signature over the Internet.”
