Dennis L. Algiere has been promoted to senior vice president of compliance at
the Washington Trust Company. He will oversee bank compliance with federal and
state laws as well as the guidelines set by the bank’s regulatory agencies.
He also oversees the bank’s security department. He joined Washington Trust
as compliance officer in 1995 and most recently served as vice president. Algiere
serves as the minority leader in the Rhode Island Senate and on the boards of
directors for the Westerly Hospital, Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation,
Southeastern Connecticut Enterprise Region Corporation, Chorus of Westerly and
the American Red Cross, R.I. chapter. He received his bachelor’s degree from
Providence College and his master’s degree from Northeastern University. He
is a resident of Westerly.
