Barbara Cottam, senior vice president at Citizens Financial Group Inc., located in Providence, has been named director of corporate communications, in charge of media relations throughout the company’s 13-state commercial and retail banking footprint. In her expanded position, Cottam is the company’s chief media spokesperson on headquarters/holding company matters for Citizens, and a resource for its senior executives and its state and regional public affairs teams in all areas Citizens Bank and Charter One Bank do business. She also oversees the company’s internal communications group. She joined the company in 1994 as director of public affairs. Cottam received a bachelor’s degree from Providence College. She and her family live in Providence.
