Bess Marcus has been named director of the Centers for Behavioral and Preventative Medicine at The Miriam Hospital and Brown University, both in Providence. She is a staff psychologist at Miriam and professor of psychiatry and human behavior at Brown Medical School. Marcus leads organizational-wide research in behavioral medicine for the centers. She received a bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., and a master’s and doctorate from Auburn University in Alabama. Marcus and her family live in Sharon, Mass.
