On page 11 of this issue (paper version of PBN) we feature a photo essay of a recent Big Brothers outing. Save The Bay used its educational vessel, the M/V Alletta Morris, to bring the Big Brothers of Rhode Island organization out on Narragansett Bay.
Save The Bay Executive Director Curt Spalding said such a trip provides the children with an enriching experience, one in which they “learn an appreciation of the bay’s fragile complexity and the vital role it plays in all of our lives.”

We suspect the trip was at least as enriching for those Big Brothers who took part. Big Brothers give so much of their time — and get such a return on their investment.
Big Brothers of Rhode Island, founded here in 1952, now has 150 kids matched up with Big Brothers. That’s 150 wonderful stories – stories of mentoring, of introducing young children to possibilities they may not have imagined existed.
We applaud all of those involved in the program – and hope others will find time to give so that the 300 children on the Big Brothers’ waiting list may enjoy the same opportunity for enrichment.
