SMITHFIELD – The New England Patriots is moving its summer training camp out of Bryant College, where they have trained for 26 years. The team has decided to move the activities to its new Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass.
Bryant College officials said while they knew that the recently opened stadium could mean a change of venue for the Patriots in the summer, they are disappointed to see them go.
“We have always enjoyed the excitement that the patriots have brought to campus during the summer, and we at Bryant will always be among the team’s most enthusiastic fans,” said Bryant University President Ronald K. Machtley. “We wish them well. In the future, if the Patriots were to determine that Bryant is preferable option, we leave the door open to that possibility.”
Supfina acquires Masco

NORTH KINGSTOWN – Supfina Machine Company Inc. has acquired the superfinishing operations of Masco Machine, based in Cleveland.
Superfinishing is a polishing process that takes place as a final step in the automobile manufacturing line and produces surfaces that make machine parts smooth enough to tolerate extended use while retaining the lubricants needed to reduce friction.
Masco Machine had ceased operations at its plant earlier this year. Supfina purchased only the superfinishing division, which accounted for about one-third of the Cleveland company’s business.
Supfina officials noted that the acquisition will allow the Quonset-based company to stay strong and expand its business during a year when the Rhode Island economy has suffered from business closings, relocations and downsizing.
