Debra A. Turrisi
Debra A. Turrisi has been promoted to sales and service manager of the Washington Trust Company’s main office in Westerly. She assists in managing daily branch operations and is responsible for consumer loans and mortgages. Joining the bank over 11 years ago, she was formerly consumer lending officer. Turrisi is a graduate of the American Institute of Banking and is currently pursuing a degree at Providence College. She is a participant in the first ever school-based mentoring program launched for youth in the Town of Westerly as a Washington Trust mentor to a Babcock Middle School student. She resides with her family in Pawcatuck, Conn.
William J. Markham
William J. Markham has been appointed loan officer of First Bank and Trust Company in the Bank’s Richmond office. He is responsible for developing small business loans eastern Connecticut markets. He comes to First Bank from Enterprise capital, Inc., where he was the regional sales manager for the Connecticut region from 1996 to 1999. Before that Markham worked at Citizens Bank and Hospital Trust. The Warwick resident is a graduate of the National Commercial Lending Graduate School at the University of Oklahoma.

David J. Maron
David J. Maron has been elected president of the Rhode Island Chapter of the Associated General Contractors for its 2000 to 2002 term. Maron serves on the RIAGC legislative committee and its industry advancement fund as well as being trustee for the apprenticeships programs for Local 94 of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners and for Local 271 of the Laborers International Union of North America. With more then 20 years of experience in the construction industry, he is vice president of Maron Construction Company. Charlestown resident Maron is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island.

Kathleen A. Locarno, RN has joined St. Joseph Health Services of Rhode Island as coordinator of senior outreach services. She will be responsible for business and referral development in the areas of nursing homes, senior outreach services, geriatric psychiatry referrals and medical staff relations for Our lady of Fatima Hospital and St. Joseph Hospital for Specialty Care. Prior to joining St. Jospeh, Locarno served as home care liaison and community educator for Roger Williams Home Care. She is a graduate of Hartford Hospital School of Nursing and a member of Aging 2000.
Sam S. Sylvester
Sam S. Sylvester of Sylvester Associates, Inc., has earned the registered health underwriter professional designation from the American College in Bryn Mawr, PA. Candidates for the RHU must complete a three-course curriculum of study and six hours of supervised examinations and fulfill experience and ethics requirements. A resident of Barrington, Sylvester has been actively involved as a broker in the insurance and employee benefits market for over 10 years. He serves on the advisory board of Big Brothers of RI and is a member of the RI Society of Financial Service Professionals, Network RI, and is involved as an alumnus of Providence Country Day School and Hamilton College.
Michael S. Moonan
LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE
Michael S. Moonan has been promoted to landscape architect and project manager of the international landscape architecture and planning firm of Gates, Leighton & Associates, Inc. Formerly a landscape designer for the East Providence firm, Moonan recently passed the national registration exam for landscape architects. In this new position he is responsible for project design and management, client relations, construction observation, and overseeing the production of construction documents. Moonan is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island, and he received his master’s degree in landscape architecture from Rhode Island School of Design. With the firm since 1997, he resides in Warwick.

Michael J. Delaney
Michael J. Delaney of Lincoln was recently promoted to assistant managing editor of visuals in the news department of The Providence Journal Company. In his new position he will supervise the photography staff and oversee the photo lab, photo archives and picture desk. He will also be responsible for the features and suburban photo coverage. Delaney began his career with the Journal during his senior year at Providence College, and after graduating he continued working as a photographer, photo laboratory technician, picture editor and department assistant. In 1979, he accepted a full-time staff photographer position at the Miami News in Florida, where he was named photographer of the year by the NFL in 1982 and the International Association of Firefighters in 1985. He has most recently chief visuals editor at the Providence Journal.

Steve Cronin has been appointed president and COO of Pawtucket-based Mercury Print & Mail. Formerly serving as vice president of customer operations, Cronin has been with the company for two years. Fromer president and COO John Maguire will continue as vice chairman of the board and will now focus his operating skills to growing AAA Entertainment, LLC radio group. Cronin and Maguire will work closely together for the next few months as Cronin becomes better acquainted with his duties. The company’s client services includes data processing, mailing services, fulfillment, printing, personalized laser letters and warehousing.

Anna Prager
Anna Prager has agreed to serve as interim president of Leadership Rhode Island, following the departure of Kathryn Hartley. A committee will be formed to conduct a search for a permanent president, expected to be named by March of this year. A 1996 graduate of LRI, Prager has served on the board and is also an officer of the organization. She holds a master’s degree in community planning from the University of Rhode Island and served as principal planner for the towns of North Kingstown and South Kingstown. She has worked in the Governor’s Office as a senior policy advisor in charge of environment and energy, and has also served as executive director or Rhode Islanders for a Drug-free Community. Prager currently serves on the South Kingstown Town Council and the Advisory Committee of Grow Smart, an advocacy coalition of people interested in promoting intelligent growth in Rhode Island.
David Esty
SPORTS
Marketing and communications executive David Esty has been appointed to the board of directors of the Institute for International Sport, located on the Kingston campus of the University of Rhode Island. The Bristol resident is owner and CEO of MarkeTeam, Inc. and a principal of Adventure Assets, Inc. of Cambridge, Mass. Founded in 1986, the Institute for International Sport attempts to foster efforts in increasing global friendships through sport, culture and education. Key programs of the Institute include the World and United States Scholar-Athlete Games, national Sportsmanship Day, and the International Scholar-Athlete Hall of Fame, which opened last June.
