Founded in 1987, Syner, Cavallaro & Co. services clients ranging from the manufacturing industry to medical and financial services fields. The company will retain its autonomy as a member of the association of 93 independent CPA firms, with 43 members in the U.S., as well as 50 international associates in 41 countries around the world. Dave Deignan
Dave Deignan has been promoted to manager of technical services at Chase Machine & Engineering. In this newly created position he will be responsible for coordination of all shop floor activity in electrical assembly and diagnostics; quality standards testing procedure development and documentation; field support activities including installations, technical support and warranty activity; and Materials Lab activities including testing, samples and department procedures documentation. He has been with the company since 1992.

Alan R. Rote, MD
Alan R. Rote, M.D., FACS, formerly Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, has joined Rhode Island Urological Specialties. Earning his medical degree at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center and completing his residencies at Boston City Hospital/Boston University and the Lahey Clinic Foundation, he is board certified in urology. He joined Harvard Pilgrim in 1990 after service in the U.S. Navy and 13 years of private practice in Vermont. Rhode Island Urological Specialties has offices in Cranston, Johnston, Woonsocket, West Warwick, North Providence, Cumberland, East Providence and Warren.

 

Manuel F. DaSilva, MD
Manuel F. DaSilva, M.D., an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand, wrist, elbow and upper extremity surgery, recently joined University Orthopedics, Inc. Dr. DaSilva, fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, is currently seeing patients out of U.O.I.’s offices in Newport, East Greenwich, and North Main St. in Providence and has admitting rights at R.I. Hospital, Newport Hospital and the Miriam Hospital. He received his undergraduate degree from Rhode Island College, his medical degree from Brown University, and completed his postgraduate internship and residency at Rhode Island Hospital. While at Rhode Island Hospital he furthered his training through a specialty fellowship program in hand and microvascular surgery at the National Center for Treatment of the Hand and Upper Extremity in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. DaSilva currently holds the title of clinical assistant professor of orthopedics at the Brown University School of Medicine. Prior to joining University Orthopedics, Dr. DaSilva was an assistant professor in the division of Hand and Microvascular Surgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas.

 

LAW

David M. Gilden
David M. Gilden has been elected managing partner of Partridge Snow & Hahn. He is a founding partner of the firm, and chair of its corporate law practice group, and is a native of New Haven, Conn. He received his undergraduate degree from Brown University and his juris doctorate from Boston University School of Law. He is a member of the Rhode Island, Massachusetts and American Bar Associations. He is the former vice chair of the Barrington Planning Board and former corporate chair of the Diabetes Association of Rhode Island.

 

 

MINISTRIES

Marybeth Hayes
MaryBeth Hayes has been appointed executive director of Interfaith Health Care Ministries. She has her Master of Divinity from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and her Baptist ordination and certification as clinical pastoral education supervisor. In addition to her most recent position as director of pastoral care and counseling at Terrell State Hospital, Hayes has served in both general hospitals and specialized health care settings, and as an organ transplant coordinator for the Midwest region. IHCM is located at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.

 

NON-PROFIT

Debra I. Popolillo
Debra I. Popolillo has been named program director of Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket. She will oversee programming of core area programs and the aquatics program including staff supervision. Previously the aquatics director, she has been with the club since 1994. She is the vice president and secretary for the RIMA Swim League, a lifeguard, WSI and an ASCA Coaching member. A Riverside resident, Popolillo is a former club and swim team member.

 

PAYROLL

John F. Doyle
John F. Doyle has joined the small business owners’ payroll company of InterPay, Inc., headquartered in Mans-field, Mass., as senior vice president and chief financial officer. His previous experience includes positions at the New England franchises of Outback Steakhouses and Applebee’s., vice president of finance for Creative Gourmets, Ltd., and corporate controller for Atex, Inc., a former subsidiary of Kodak. As CFO, Doyle will be responsible for InterPay’s financial organization.

 

 

SOFTWARE

Mark Barter
Mark Barter has joined Blue Moon Industries in Riverside, as an account executive. He will be focusing on mid-market opportunities for the system integrator company. He was previously employed as senior account executive with New Horizon’s Learning Center. Barter is and ambassador with the Providence Chamber of Commerce and a resident of Cumberland.

 

 

 

TRAVEL

Lisa Berrios
Lisa Berrios has been named marketing director of the American Canadian Caribbean Line, Inc. She will oversee tour and charter sales, and be in charge of the public and media relations department. Berrios holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Bryant College, and has worked as manager of tour sales for Conway Tours in Cumberland, followed by several years in her family’s travel agency. ACCL is a Warren-based cruise line, founded in 1966.
