Debra J. Olsen
Debra J. Olsen has been appointed manager of in-store banking at The Washington Trust Company’s A&P Super Foodmart branch in Connecticut. With the bank since 1982, Olsen attended CCRI and Bryant College. She received certificates of completion for personal administration and supervisory management from Bryant. She is also a former recipient of the Bank’s President’s Excellence Award.

Michael J. Meuth, MD
Dr. Michael J. Meuth, has been named to the department of internal medicine at Saint Anne’s Hospital. Dr. Meuth is a graduate of Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed his residency and a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at Georgetown University Medical School. Associated with the Internal Medicine Cardiology Associates, in Fall River, Mass, Dr. Meuth is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and is board-certified in cardiovascular disease.
Diane McKeefe
Nurse practitioner Diane McKeeff has joined the Cedar Crest Nursing Centre where she will be responsible for managing the care and treatment of 153 patients. Prior to joining Cedar Crest, she worked in the cardio-thoracic recovery room at the New York University Medical Center. She earned a master’s degree as an adult nurse practitioner from New York University, where she conducted research on congestive heart failure and the impact of at-home monitoring on patient outcomes.

Neil Downing
Neil Downing, a staff writer for The Providence Journal, has won a national award for his 1999 coverage of Rhode Island’s health insurance crisis. The Journalism Award for Excellence in Personal Finance Reporting was presented to Downing last month by the American University School of Communication and the ICI Education Foundation in Washington, D.C. He was honored for his work on the “Crisis Line” column, which answered reader questions about the health insurance crisis triggered by the collapse of Harvard Pilgrim of New England. Downing is the author of the book Maximize Your IRA. He is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island.
NON-PROFIT
Chris Barnett
Chris Barnett has been honored by the Rhode Island Coalition for the Homeless, with its 1999 Public Relations Award. He designed a communications campaign directed at encouraging small landlords to rent to persons who are homeless and a fund-raising effort targeting people working in the housing industry. The Coalition’s Housing Locator system matches people living in shelters and short-term housing with vacant apartments through a computer system linking 33 social service agencies throughout Rhode Island. Barnett’s campaign involved a direct mail piece promising a $10 donation to the Coalition by a corporate partner for every response. Barnett is communications director for the Rhode Island Housing and Mortgage Finance Corporation. He previously worked for the Westerly Sun, The Providence Journal Co., and Picerne Properties.
Edward J. Duffy
Edward J. Duffy, president of Home-Works Home Inspections, Inc. of Warwick, has been accepted as a member of The American Society of Home Inspectors. ASHI is a non-profit organization dedicated to setting and upholding a standard of ethics and practices in the home inspection industry. Duffy has been a home inspector for more than seven years and is one of only eight ASHI certified home inspectors in Rhode Island.
Ara Berberian, III
Ara Berberian, III of Cumberland has been appointed manager of counselor training and professional development for Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Southeastern New England. CCCS is a non-profit organization headquartered in Warwick, which offers personal financial counseling and services for residents of Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Berberian is responsible for the development and implementation of employee training and professional development programs. He joined the company in 1996 as a financial counselor.

Julie A. Sylvestre
Julie A. Sylvestre of Mapleville has joined Blackstone Management as director of real estate operations. She will be responsible for managing all operations, including leasing, new business development, personnel, finance and marketing of the commercial property management company. She attended Bryant College and holds a degree in computer science. She has over 13 years of operations and management experience primarily in the medical field, including working with Coastal Medical, Inc. in Providence and with Beth Israel/Deaconess Hospital in Boston, Mass.
