Courtney Guertin has joined Advertising Ventures, Inc. of Providence as account executive. She will be responsible for implementing advertising, marketing communications campaigns, public affairs and public relations programs. Guertin graduated from Bryant College with a concentration in marketing. She has previously worked as an intern for the Newport Exhibition Group and is a resident of Bristol.

John Leistritz
John Leistritz has been named vice president of Trainor Associates of Providence. He had previously served as vice president/marketing for Safeguard Computer Services, public relations manager for a statewide political candidate, and contributing columnist for New England Adweek, as well as in a number of capacities with WJAR-TV and WJAR-AM. Leistritz is a graduate of Brown University and resides in Pawtucket.

BANKING

Ann E. Gariepy
Ann E. Gariepy has been named vice president/branch manager for Citizens Bank’s Mineral Spring Avenue office in North Providence. She previously served as assistant vice president for Bank Rhode Island in Woonsocket. Gariepy received a bachelor’s of social work from Rhode Island College in 1982. A resident of Woonsocket, she is active with Main Street 2000 in that city and the North Central Chamber of Commerce in North Providence.

 

 

Paul G. Wielgus
Paul G. Wielgus has been appointed senior vice president, senior credit officer of Bank Rhode Island. His responsibilities include oversight of the bank’s credit administration, loan review, loan servicing and regulatory compliance areas. He is active in the Minority Investment Development Corporation and the Rhode Island Coalition for Minority Investment. Wielgus is a member of the board of directors of the YMCA in Barrington, where he resides.

 

 

COMMUNICATIONS

Leigh Ann Woisard
Leigh Ann Woisard has joined Cox Communications as media relations manager for New England. She will be responsible for overseeing the development and dissemination of information about Cox’s voice, video and data telecommunications services to the regional media. Woisard was previously employed as director of external relations and communications for HELP, a coalition of Providence’s 10 non-profit hospitals and colleges, and district/communications director for U.S. Representative Bob Weygand. She is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island, where she received a bachelor of arts in speech communications with a minor in public relations, and resides in Saunderstown.

 

 

CONSTRUCTION

Guido Giorgi
Guido Giorgi has joined New England Construction of Rumford as project superintendent. His responsibilities include supervision of trades for the construction of new buildings and documentation of work and quality control. Giorgi was previously employed as project superintendent for F.H French, Co. in Lincoln and Nadeau Corp. in South Attleboro, Mass. He was also president and general manager of Giorgi Construction Company in Burrillville, RI.

 

HEALTH CARE

Richard A. Carelton
Richard A. Carleton, MD, FACC, received the John Chafee Award for Healthcare Leadership from the Rhode Island affiliate of the American Heart Association (AHA). He is the second recipient of the Chafee award, the first being the former US senator himself. Carleton, who served as physician-in-chief at Memorial Hospital for 13 years, is principal researcher with the Pawtucket Heart Health Program, a professor of medicine at Brown University School of Medicine, and chairperson of the Rhode Island Prevention Coalition. A resident of Bristol, he recently returned from Pisa, Italy where he was awarded a Fulbright grant to teach at the Sant’ Anna School of Studies in Doctoral Research.

 

INSURANCE

Thomas H. Quill, Jr.
Thomas H. Quill, Jr. has been named managing director of risk services for Aon Risk Services’ Rhode Island operation. The new title of managing director replaces the title of president, and his responsibilities include overseeing all financial and operational results of operation. Quill previously served as chief operating officer of Aon’s Providence office for nine years. He is a graduate of Brown University and a resident of Providence.

 

 

William L. Kirk
William L. Kirk has joined Blue-CHip, as assistant vice president, service center. He will head the customer service and call centers and work to increase customer satisfaction for members and providers. Kirk was previously employed as HMO function head/Northeast customer service operations at Aetna as well as branch claim manager at Mutual of Omaha and CIGNA HealthCare in Connecticut. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration at the State University in Illinois and served in the United States Air Force. He resides in Ellington, Conn., with his wife and two children.

NON-PROFIT

Stanley Kanter
Stanley Kanter has been named to the board of directors of Grow Smart Rhode Island, wh- ich works to promote business and residential growth in urban and town centers and to advance open-land conservation and preservation of rural character. He is an attorney and partner at Providence law firm Adler Pollock & Sheehan, where he chairs the real estate group. Kanter is a graduate of Boston University and received his law degree from Cornell University. A member of the Real Estate Council of Cornell University and a fellow of the American College Trust and Real Estate Counsel, Kanter chairs the endowment committee of Temple Habonim in Barrington, where he resides.
