PROVIDENCE — The National Commission Against Drunk Driving has recognized Rhode Island’s campaign against drunken driving. The commission specifically recognized the Rhode Island Department of Transportation, the Governor’s Office on Highway Safety, Amica Mutual Insurance Co. and McMahon Preston Communications for a cooperative effort in developing the campaign. The heart of the campaign was the participation of six families whose members had died as the result of drunken driving accidents. Family members took part in television and radio-advertising spots related to the deaths and contributed pictures of the victims.
