Carle Pieters has been named a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science for her research on planetary bodies through infrared spectroscopy.
She is professor of geological sciences at Brown University, where she has taught since 1980.
One of the world’s leading lunar scientists, Pieters is the author of more than 150 articles in peer-reviewed journals and is an elected member of the International Academy of Astronautics.
