Children’s Hospital trims losses

BOSTON — Boston Children’s Hospital announced that it had trimmed its operating
loss for the recently completed Fiscal Year 2000 to $28.4 million, well below
its targeted goal of $40 million. The hospital posted a $61 million loss a year
ago. The hospital’s chief operating officer, Sandra Fenwick, said, "We’ve
made tremendous progress, but we have a ways to go. We need to continue to reduce
our operating loss in Fiscal Year 2001 while at the same time investing in our
future."
