CMGI second quarter sales at $345 million

ANDOVER, Mass. (Bloomberg) — CMGI Inc., an Internet venture company, said fiscal second-quarter sales will meet its forecast of $335 million to $345 million after a majority-owned investment cut its own sales and profit estimate. Internet-services company NaviSite Inc. lost 52 cents to 55 cents in the fiscal second-quarter ended Jan. 31, the company said in a release distributed by Business Wire. The loss is wider than the 42 cents a share average of analysts polled by First Call/Thomson Financial. Officials of CMGI and NaviSite, 68 percent owned by CMGI, weren’t immediately available to comment. NaviSite, which hosts Internet sites for other companies on its computers, said results were worse than expected partly because it ended relationships with 45 customers, primarily dot-coms, following “payment problems” CMGI, which last month said its revenue likely will fall short for its fiscal year ending July 31, has been paring back its investments in money-losing Internet companies as it seeks to become profitable.
