FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – Covansys Corp. acquired Kansas-based PDA Software Services to expand Covansys’ IT capabilities for state governments and strengthen the company’s business-process outsourcing capabilities.
Covansys said it expects the $16.5 million acquisition of PDA to bolster its efforts in the insurance industry, where Covansys has a strong track record of application maintenance and development outsourcing experience.
PDA, with $18 million in annual revenue, is a market leader in the development, implementation and maintenance of systems for states required to meet federal tracking and reporting mandates of the Women, Infants & Children (WIC) Program. It offers a Web-based product, called FloodConnect, that helps private insurers manage flood-insurance business through the National Flood Insurance Program.

The public sector resources of PDA will become part of Covansys’ Public Sector Practice, which provides consulting to more than 25 states and numerous local governments and specializes in custom and packaged solutions for public retirement, health and human services, transportation, labor and justice services.
APC unveils line
of total solution power products
WEST KINGSTON – American Power Conversion on June 4 introduced the complete line of TSP (Total Solution Power) products, outdoor power systems that are deployed in coaxial cable TV, hybrid fiber/coax broadband, and other multi-service broadband networks.
The products offer a true modular design that incorporates a transformer module and an electronics module allowing for easier installation and serviceability, APC said. Upward migration from a non-standby to a full-featured, standby uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is easily achieved with the addition of an electronics module and batteries.
APC said the TSP product line rounds out its ability to offer a complete end-to-end powering solution for its broadband customers.

BOSTON – Fidelity Investments Institutional Brokerage Group announced ithas formed a strategic relationship with AnnuityNet, Inc., under which Fidelity will offer its Correspondent Broker/Dealer clients access to AnnuityNet’s Web-based annuity processing service, integrated with Streetscape, Fidelity’s integrated, institutional online brokerage platform.
Annuities have generally been kept separate from the brokerage world, requiring investment professionals to process and settle their annuity transactions differently than other brokerage holdings. As a result, investment professionals have had to rely on a time-consuming, paper-based, check-and-application process.
Through Fidelity’s integration with AnnuityNet, annuities will be able to be processed and settled in a manner similar to other brokerage transactions.

WARWICK – Atrion Networking Corp. has expanded its carrier services to include a specialized division of experts that handle telephony design, implementation, adds, moves, changes and ongoing support.
