PROVIDENCE — CVS/pharmacy has offered a $10,000 matching grant to the Rhode Island Good Neighbor Energy Fund, an energy assistance program for Rhode Island families in temporary crisis.
The fund is a coalition of Algonquin Gas Transmission Co., Bristol & Warren Gas, Narragansett Electric, Ocean State Power, PG&E National Energy Group, Pascoag Electric, ProvGas and Valley Gas. Beginning March 9, CVS committed to matching all individual and family donations to fund up to a maximum of $10,000, that the fund receives.

The Salvation Army administers the fund. which is a last resort for families who have not qualified for federal and state assistance programs. According to a statement issued by the fund, more than 2,500 requests for the fund’s assistance are expected this year.
