Dave & Buster’s holds about one corporate event a day, according to Rebecca Pressman, special events sales manager at D&B.
“It is a hip alternative as opposed to a hotel,” she said.
Groups range in size from 10 people to more than 2,000 that rent the entire facility, she said. A private showroom fully equipped with AV equipment can be rented for a flat rate of $250 with a per-person charge for a buffet meal.
D&B has certainly gained popularity over the years, said Pressman. It is mostly through word-of-mouth, she said, as the nationwide food and entertainment chain relies more on word-of-mouth than a massive advertising campaign.
Hasbro and CVS are two of the bigger-name clients that have used the D&B facilities for an event. A meeting can be followed by team-building games with the large selection of simulators, games and attractions.
Entertainment options range from a “he said, she said” game that tests co-workers’ knowledge of each other or the secret agent-themed mission task force event in the mold of a James Bond flick.
“It is team building Dave & Buster’s style,” said Pressman.
Across the way, an IMAX movie can provide employees with a scintillating, illuminating and larger-than-life experience that offers a team-building opportunity and a relaxing, stress-free atmosphere.
“Do something different, bigger and better,” said Kate Leach, sales manager for the Feinstein IMAX Theatre at Providence Place.
Companies can reserve the 425-seat theater complete with a 6-story-high, 189-foot-wide screen and 12,000 watts of digital sound for the latest craze – the IMAX experience.
Arrangements can be made to pay on a per-person basis or on an hourly rate depending on the needs of the guest. The lobby can be transformed into a movie setting for a fully catered reception followed by either a single or double feature in the IMAX theater.
A traditional IMAX movie is about 45 minutes long, said Leach, and is the perfect complement to a reception for a two-hour event, a sufficient amount of time considering a person’s busy lifestyle, said Leach.
“Sit back and let us do the work,” she said.
It is also a good atmosphere for employees to take their families, said Leach.
The IMAX theater is also great for sales force meetings, said Leach. The theater is equipped with state-of-the-art visual and audio equipment. After the work is done, “you can sit back and have a social experience.”
IMAX hosts between 30 to 50 groups a year, said Leach. The theater has helped coordinate events with The Beacon Mutual Insurance Company, Reebok, Swarovski and the Audobon Society.
