David M. Hirsch has been named chairman of the board for the Rhode Island Foundation. Hirsch is chairman and CEO of Vertex Distribution. He brings both financial acumen and leadership in civic affairs to the foundation, where he has served on the board of directors since 2003 and as chairman of the investment committee since 2004. He has a B.A. electrical engineering from Rensselaer and an MBA from Harvard University. •
