The TJX Companies, Inc., a Fortune 500 company that owns T.J. Maxx and Marshalls, announced that it is looking to build a state-of-the-art distribution center at the former Fall River municipal airport.
The proposed 300,000-square-foot facility would generate 200 new jobs upon its completion and approximately 450 jobs over the next few years.

The announcement was made jointly by Mayor Edward M. Lambert, Jr., chairman of the Fall River Office of Economic Development, and Donald F. O’Neill, Chairman of Condyne, LLC, the project developer. The Fall River site would serve as the central distribution facility for A.J. Wright, an off-price chain recently launched by TJX.
Lambert said that the city was targeted primarily because of its outstanding workforce, the availability of a quality site and its strong commitment to helping businesses.
”We’ve been working closely with TJX for the past several weeks. In that time, we’ve made great progress and we hope to finalize the deal shortly. Landing this facility in Fall River would be a major coup for our community,” he said.
He added, “If TJX grows as expected, the building could expand to 500,000-square-feet and create 600 new jobs for our working men and women. And, of course, spin-off jobs will also have a very positive impact on the local economy.”
