Brown University maintained its No. 15 ranking among national universities in the magazine’s America’s Best Colleges 2007. Providence College, Bryant University and Salve Regina University also did well.
Not so happy are the folks at the University of Rhode Island, which landed in the third tier of national universities.
To the extent that the rankings point out real deficiencies, colleges would be wise to address them. But just as schools shouldn’t merely teach to the test, the best colleges and universities will not administrate to the rankings. Glean the valuable information and get on with the task of educating your students.
