Earth Day activities this weekend

The Department of Environmental Management and the Rhode Island Earth Day Committee encourage all Rhode Islanders to join a neighborhood cleanup in celebration of Earth Day 2003. More than 90 cleanups are planned throughout the state during April.

The RI Earth Day Committee and Roger Williams Park Zoo will host Rhode Island’s Earth Day Festival on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the zoo. Although regular zoo admission will be charged on that day, several thousand free tickets will be distributed to volunteers at neighborhood cleanups. Activities and theatre performances will be held throughout the day and environmentally conscious companies and non-profit organizations from throughout the area will participate in an environment fair.
