CONCORD — Emulex Corp. of Costa Mesa, Calif., announced that it is acquiring Giganet, Inc., based here, for stock worth about $645 million. A spokesman for Giganet said the purchase would not affect its 100 employees. Giganet makes devices for data storage companies such as Network Appliances, Inc., a competitor with EMC of Hopkinton, the industry leader, which buys some of its equipment from Emulex.
