Fiber optics technology is coming to Quonset Point

CRANSTON, R.I. — Cox Business Services (CBS), a division of Cox Communications, will be the first telecommunications provider to deliver broadband capabilities to Quonset Davisville Port and Commerce Park. The company said it has invested $300 million in the fiber-optic and hybrid fiber-coax cable infrastructure through which it delivers its services in the state.

The laying of the first fiber optic and coaxial cables at Quonset Point will take place within the next two weeks, beginning in the Kiefer Park (southern) section. CBS plans to install three miles of cable by the end of the first quarter of 2001, the company said.
