Fidelity Investments will “vigorously oppose” efforts by the Dow Chemical Company to alter current zoning rules for approximately 1,500 acres in Smithfield to fast track construction of drug or pharmaceutical manufacturing plants without Zoning Board review, Fidelity said in a news release.
Dow Chemical asked the Smithfield Town Council to approve changes to zoning laws to permit construction of a manufacturing facility on the site. Fidelity wants the Town Council to facilitate more opportunities for public review of the project, and reject Dow’s proposal.
