The Senate Judiciary Committee needs to act immediately on Gov. Donald L. Carcieri’s four nominees to the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority’s board of directors, so the RIPTA board can get back to the business of running the financially strapped agency.
On Monday, May 16, the RIPTA board canceled its regular meeting for the second consecutive month because it did not have enough members present to constitute a quorum. The governor has forwarded the names of four individuals to the Senate Judiciary Committee.
