Finalists set in business plan competition

PROVIDENCE — Five entrepreneurs have been chosen as finalists in Rhode Island’s
first business plan competition. The winner will be awarded a $50,000 cash prize.
Garrett B. Hunter, president of the Business Development Company of Rhode Island,
which sponsored the competition along with the Rhode Island Economic Development
Corporation, said the winning business plan will be unveiled at the Brown Venture
Forum on May 17. The finalists include: Chameleon Network, Inc.; Harvest Quest
International, Inc.; Medical Monitoring Technologies, Inc.; QualaCare; and SpringBee,
Inc. Four of the five companies are currently based in Rhode Island and the fifth
is based in Massachusetts. Under the rules of the competition, the winning individual
or team must establish operations in Rhode Island.
