James V. DeRentis has been promoted to executive vice president of retail banking and marketing at Bank Rhode Island. DeRentis had been senior vice president of retail banking. He will oversee all retail banking operations, marketing, the bank’s personal investment program and its alternate delivery channels. A Providence resident, he has a bachelor’s degree from Bryant College and a master’s from Providence College. He is on the board of directors of the Providence Preservation Society, Stop Wasting Abandoned Property, Business Volunteers for the Arts, the Democracy Compact and AIDs Care Ocean State.
