FIRSTFED releases third quarter results, declares dividend

SWANSEA, MASS. (PRNEWSWIRE) — FIRSTFED America Bancorp, Inc. has released financial results for the third quarter of 2001. The company’s net income decreased 3.2 percent, to $2.1 million for the quarter, from $2.2 million for the same period last year. Net income for the first nine months of fiscal 2001 income increased 15 percent, to $6.7 million, compared to $5.8 million for the same period last year.

Basic and diluted earnings per share (EPS) for the quarter were up 6 percent, to $0.37 per share from $0.35 per share for the same period last year. Year-to-date basic and diluted EPS for 2001 increased 24 percent to $1.14 from $0.92 for 2000.

FIRSTFED’s board of directors declared a quarterly dividend of $0.10 per share, payable on February 16, to all shareholders of record as of February 2, 2001.
